| The annual Duel in the Desert Tournament, Arizona vs California is fast approaching. This years tournament will be on November 6 & 7, 2010 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility (BASF).
The Duel in the Desert Team Trials is the tournament that we use to choose the Arizona Team. The Team Trials will be on October 2 & 3, 2010 at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility (BASF). The AZ Duel in the Desert Trials selects the Arizona Duel Team. Traditionally, the AZ Duel Team is made up of 20 seniors (6 recurve men, 6 recurve women, 4 compound men, 4 compound women) and 4 Juniors (Jr. recurve male, Jr. recurve female, Jr. compound male, Jr. compound female). Arizona Juniors often make the Senior team and Cadets often make the Junior team. Arizona Duel Team members receive support from the ASAA. Which includes a team shirt and Duel Tournament entry fee paid for.
The Duel in the Desert Team Trials and the Duel in the Desert is open to all archers regardless if they are shooting to make the team.

Passing of a ASAA Archery Friend Posted by: Admin on Monday, June 14, 2010 - 11:52 PM ASAA
| Dear Fellow Archers,
It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of Winston Brown, a former Dine College Archer who competed in collegiate archery from 1999 to 2002. Earlier this morning, Winston was involved in a car accident that took his life (06/11/10). Winston was an avid archer who competed even after his collegiate eligibility expired. He was a fan of the Win&Win Olympic recurve bows. His biggest accomplishment was at the 2001 USIAC held at Texas A&M University and helping the Dine College Men's Recurve Team earn 3rd place; a single-point win over Penn State. We will miss him dearly.
*If you would like to send Funeral Donations or to send flowers please call: FOSTER FUNERAL HOME @ (406) 745-6789.*
Appreciatively,
Mr. Gregory Redhouse
Former Dine College Head Archery Coach (2002 to 2007); Assistant Archery Coach (1998 to 2001).

ASAA Outdoor Championship - Update Posted by: Admin on Sunday, March 28, 2010 - 06:04 PM ASAA
| The 2010 ASAA Outdoor Championship is less than a week away and will be held on April 3, 2010 at the FITA Event Range at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility in Phoenix, Arizona
Here is a link for an aerial view of BASF, follow the yellow line to the range. Note the new 2010 Google updated view. http://www.azjoad.com/2010azcup/WEB/images/2010_Ben_Avery.jpg
The Entries list has been updated on www.azjoad.com. Please check your information and name spelling. The distance that you shoot during the Qualification Round is also listed. Reminder: New rule for 2010 is that Masters (all) shoot the same distances as Cadets which is 60m for this tournament.
Remember to bring your chairs.
Most people have signed up to shoot the “Get Set” Open. The Open will be shot all at 70m. It appears that both the Compound group and the Recurve group will be starting at the 1/32nd round to kick off the new Set System Elimination Round. Those of you who are shooting 50m or 60m for the Championship will have a chance to get sight settings for 70m during the Lunch Break.
We have a few out of town guests who are joining us. Please give them a warm Arizona greeting.
Kowboy Kookin’ (aka: Mike Koistinen, Heather and Brian) will be serving snacks during the tournament and lunch during the break while we rank the archers for the brackets.
Questions: contact Bob Pian, azjoad@cox.net
